The Alcatraz Escape
The Alcatraz Escape, also known as the "Escape from Alcatraz," was an escape attempt by three inmates from the infamous Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary, located on an island in San Francisco Bay. The inmates, Frank Morris, John Anglin, and Clarence Anglin, used homemade tools to dig through the walls of their cells and escape through a ventilation shaft on the night of June 11, 1962.
The inmates' disappearance was discovered the following morning during a routine cell check, and a massive manhunt was launched to find them. Despite an extensive search involving the FBI, Coast Guard, and other law enforcement agencies, the three inmates were never found.
The escape has become the subject of much speculation and fascination over the years, with many theories as to what happened to the escapees. Some believe they drowned in the bay, while others think they may have made it to shore and started new lives elsewhere.
Regardless of what happened to the escapees, the Alcatraz Escape remains one of the most daring and mysterious prison escapes in history, capturing the imagination of people around the world.
